The Rother Valley Farmers Group have recently been awarded funding from the Natural England Countryside Stewardship Facilitation Fund. The bid was supported by the Arun & Rother Rivers Trust, the Arun and Western Streams Catchment Partnership and CPES project partners Southern Water and the South Downs National Park Authority.
This farmers group, which currently consists of 31 farmers in the Western Rother pilot catchment and will use the funding to support joint working & sharing of best practice across the area. The group is farmer-led with the aim of delivering land management that is sympathetic with the river environment. The CPES project partners plan to use this group as a mechanism for engaging farmers in their PES approach as they've shown a keen interest in collaborating.
